Thanks to "Artists 4 Israel", a group of graffiti artists from around the globe who love Israel and visit cities such as Sderot and Ariel are leaving their imprint. Hevron underwent two days of a facelift - from ugly duckling to colorful and exciting.

Chabad of Hevron joined with the Lever family from London for a scrumptious barbeque honoring the Givati Brigade serving in and around Chevron. The soldiers enjoyed the short respite and the great meal in the middle their duties. Chabad of Hevron welcomes and offers spiritual and physical nourishment and a home away from home to all soldiers serving in our holy city.

Last week we celebrated "Hevron Liberation Day", marking the 44th anniversary since the IDF entered Hevron on the 3rd day of the 6-Day War.
A pre-Shavous party, led by Batsheva Cohen, was held on our Chabad terrace for the female soldiers serving in our area to celebrate the occasion.

Over one hundred years ago, the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Rebbe Rashab, appealed to his Chassidim in Hevron to buy the right to light the main Lag b'Omer bonfire in Hevron on his behalf. Following this tradition, Chabad of Hebron sponsors the Lag B'Omer festivities in Hevron annually.

Last time we heard from Peace Now they were stirring up a media storm about a Mezuzah going up in Hevron. With the next round of the peace pipe they charged Chabad of Hevron with storing menorahs, books and other Mivtzaim material for the soldiers in an abandoned storefront on land owned by Jews since before the 1967 liberation - but was leased to an Arab by the Jewish government.

The visitors enjoyed hearing about Beit Hadassah – on location - from Mrs. Sara Nachshon; about Beit Chabad in Hevron – on location - from Mrs. Batsheva Cohen; and about Maaras HaMachpela – on location – from Avraham Avinu… well not quite… but we are putting him on the schedule for next year… with Moshiach!

Descendants of Rebbetizen Menucha Rochel, Laibel and Levi Baumgarten spent a memorable Shabbos in Hevron. On a yearly basis the brothers, who both do the Rebbe’s Shlichus in New York, visit Hevron with groups of people whom they have met through their Shlichus. Amongst the tens of thousands of visitors to Hevron on the Shabbos when the Torah portion speaks about Avraham's acquisition of Hevron... Chabad of Hevron hosted more than a hundred guests and provided Fabrengens around the clock. Crown Heights resident and Chairman of the Vaad HaMesader at 770, author and translator, and research data processor and statistician, Rabbi Shimon Neubort, recorded his experiences on this unusual Shabbos.

When Itzik first approached Andre asking him to put on Tefilin, Andre declined.
That was in the afternoon, when Itzik visits the army bases to shmooze with the soldiers, teach them about Torah and offer them Tefilin. But when Itzik encountered Andre when he made his midnight visits to the soldiers standing on duty for 8 hours, Andre opened up and explained his refusal.

The Rebbe's Tefillin Campaign is one of the main projects that Chabad of Hevron promotes amongst the soldiers. We arrange for Tefillin to be brought to soldiers on duty, on base and in remotely located outposts.

On Rosh Chodesh Adar, Chabad of Hevron was privileged to host a unit of Shaked Givati soldiers. The unit had been serving in Hevron for several months and was about to go to their next assignment. While they were in Hevron they forged a close connection to the Cohen family, especially on Friday nights, when they always knew they were welcome to come for the Shabbos meal.

Chabad of Hevron remembers Dagan Vertman HYD of the Golani Brigade as a skilled commander who overstepped his line of duty by leading his soldiers with love and enthusiasm. We were devastated by the news of his death in the battle to stabilize Gaza. Danny first heard the news from his younger brother who was a childhood friend of Dagan. Together the brothers went to pay an emotional Shiva call to Dagan's family.
