Dagan HYD

Chabad of Hevron remembers Dagan Vertman HYD of the Golani Brigade as a skilled commander who overstepped his line of duty by leading his soldiers with love and enthusiasm. We were devastated by the news of his death in the battle to stabilize Gaza. Danny first heard the news from his younger brother who was a childhood friend of Dagan. Together the brothers went to pay an emotional Shiva call to Dagan's family.

Dagan is shown on the right side of the picture. It was taken when he and other soldiers came to present a certificate to Danny to show appreciation for all that Chabad of Hevron did for the Golani Brigade during the months they were serving in Hevron.

By Chanuka time, Dagan and his brigade had moved to a training camp a few hours away from Hevron. Danny still felt a connection and drove the three hours to light the Menorah with them and distribute Sufganiot - Chanukah jelly donuts. At that time Dagan was enthusiastic that he was training to fight terrorism. He gave his life so that others can live theirs. HYD.
